Lam, a global supplier of innovative wafer fabrication equipment and services to the semiconductor industry, has pledged a $10 million donation to FIRST Global, providing critical, enabling support to FIRST Global’s mission to expand access to STEM education and invest in the next generation of global technology leaders. The Lam donation is the company’s most significant gift since unveiling its social impact framework, Powering Breakthroughs Together, in 2022.
Students belonging to the Team Legogoa, a home based club from the state of Goa dreamt big and participated in selection of the team to represent the country for the FIRST Global Challenge.
TEAM LEGOGOA designed and built a device known as Trebuchet which launched the tennis ball up to the soaring distance of 27 metres which was the highest.
After four rounds of the interviews, the Goan team was selected as Team India by the end of June 2023.

Based on the impact of a small team from Goa creating big waves at the national level, Lam research helped the team share its story via the TV interview on CNBC news channel. On behalf of Lam, This initiative was coordinated by Rangesh Raghavan and Jaiprakash Vigneshwar.
The crew from CNBC led by Akhil Vishwanath travelled to Goa and visited the Robo lab and spent an entire day talking to the team members. This interview provided the team amazing visibility at National Level.
The Team India booth located at the Singapore expo was a big hit as it was well decorated and offered lots of insights into the team. It attracted a steady stream of visitors especially VIP’s that were trying to understand how the youngest team from India was able to compete at the Global stage.
Jeanette Tan enthusiasm was infectious and her love for our Team ensured that we were interviewed by CNA news channel.
Mr Tim Archer and Ms Stacey MacNeil spent over 15 minutes at the Team India booth understanding the learnings of Team India via the FGC platform and how Team India had further shared the knowledge it had gained with other teams
Lam further ensured that the Times of India reporter travelled from India to cover the FGC event in Singapore.
This article was widely published in all the major cities of India, providing the much needed boost to STEM Education in India
The spotlight on this Team by Lam research will certainly motivate more Goan and Indian kids to pursue STEAM
